Since its inception in 2008, the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) has been a staunch advocate for reducing diesel emissions by actively encouraging the replacement of older diesel assets with newer, environmentally friendly alternatives
Starting from August 2, 2023, the EPA introduced a funding opportunity for projects dedicated to reducing emissions from mobile diesel sources
Does your equipment meet the eligibility criteria?
If you own an older diesel-powered railcar mover that meets DERA requirements and are interested in upgrading to a new BOSS Railcar Mover with an EPA-certified T-4 engine, please contact us. We will provide guidance and support throughout the application process.
To qualify for funding, your current unit in operation must adhere to the following criteria:
- Be under ownership and operational for a minimum of 2 years before the upgrade or replacement.
- Have a remaining operational life of at least 3 years at the time of the upgrade.
- Run for a minimum of 500 hours per year during the 2 years preceding the upgrade.
- Be either scrapped or permanently disabled within 90 days of replacement.”
Applications must fall within the classification of ‘Nonroad engines, equipment, or vehicles.
